Nielsen agreed to pay back wages and interest to 994 job applicants totaling $570,000, the department said. The company will also extend job opportunities to 56 applicants, according to the news release.Advertisement

“Together, the U.S. Department of Labor and Nielsen Company have resolved the issues raised in our evaluations, and now Nielsen has the policies and procedures in place to comply with federal hiring and employment laws,” said Michele Hodge, acting director of the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs.

Connie Kim, senior vice president of communications of Nielsen, said in a written statement the company has no comment.executive order, which prohibits federal contractors from discriminating in employment based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or national origin.According to the news release, Nielsen contracts with a number of federal agencies, including the Federal Communications Commission and the departments of Agriculture and Health and Human Services.
