Meals on Wheels is committed to supporting older adults and people living with disabilities, especially around the holidays due to them facing increased risk of loneliness.
According to Meals on Wheels Central Texas, nearly a quarter of adults aged 65 and older experience social isolation and loneliness. People that are older and confined to their homes may struggle with increased holiday loneliness due to distance from family, limited transportation, and chronic health conditions.This Christmas Eve, staff will prepare thousands of hot, healthy meals in the morning. Volunteers will deliver these meals to several people, providing essential nutrition and company for nearly 3,000 neighbors. The goal of the staff and volunteers is to help these people feel less isolated during the holidays
