A Maryland state trooper was shot Monday night on the Eastern Shore while making a traffic stop, the state police said. The trooper was taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment of injuries, the police said. Details of the trooper’s condition were not available immediately.The shooting occurred on Route 50 near the Vienna, Md., scale house, the police said. The site is between Cambridge, Md, and Salisbury, Md., and is about 100 miles from Washington by road.
In an initial Twitter message reporting the shooting, the police said nothing about any suspects, but said no threat to the public existed.
