The government has allowed the harvest of fresh palm fruit bunches by plantation companies and smallholders.

In a statement, Plantations and Commodities Minister Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali said the government understood the importance of the palm oil and rubber industries in the supply chain for essential products, including cooking oil, medical gloves and catheters. These include allowing the harvest of fresh palm fruit bunches by plantation companies and smallholders and the processing of FFB by millers.

Rubber tapping to ensure the supply of raw materials for medical items will also be permitted, as will timber sector activities to fulfil existing contracts.
