The high schoolers will spend the next few days in the studio recording songs, and they’re up for the task) - The McGill-Toolen chamber singers are teaming up with the University of Notre Dame to record an album that will be offered to all catholic schools across the country.
“It’s just an amazing opportunity. We’re going to be streamed in so many places and get to be a part of a really important moment for so many students. I think it’s really important for the place that It’ll be sent in and where we’ll be playing it, and what they’ll take from it,” Julia Smith said. “It’s been great seeing everything come together. We had a ton of music to learn in a pretty short amount of time but seeing how quickly it all melded together. Last night, we were just with Mr. Warner and he was playing his guitar and it was just a great thing to see,” Marshall Robertson said.
This is all thanks to a team effort with the Founding Director of The University Of Notre Dame Folk Choir, Steve Warner. “We’re asking high school students to be international evangelists. And that’s something that a lot of people would shrink away from that sort of thing. But they’re like ‘okay!’ It’s just amazing to watch,” Warner said.“The music that they’re doing today will be free for all teachers to be able to use. There will be paywalls for downloads if you want sheet music and things like that. But essentially, the listening experience in any classroom will be free, no matter where,” Warner said.
