Starting September 10th McDonald's will update the McFlurry with a new cardboard cup and eliminate the plastic dome lid as part of its environmental efforts.
in favor of a more sustainable design last October, McDonald’s announced they’re making another sustainable change to the sweet treat.The old cup and plastic lid will be swapped out for a four-flap cup, which will reduce waste and help the company’s goal of sourcing . “Not only is this a fun new way for our U.S. fans to enjoy the McFlurry; we’re also moving one step closer to fulfilling our packaging and waste commitments.
In addition to phasing out the plastic lid, McDonald’s is introducing a smaller sized McFlurry for those who want just a little taste. Starting Sept. 10, customers can go to participating Golden Arches to get a Mini McFlurry, which the fast-food chain describes as “a mini serving of everyone’s favorite sweet treat.”
