The woman, who had never eaten meat before, ordered a vegetarian burger only to discover it actually contained chicken.
, Sunshine told her followers:"So I bit into the burger and it wasn't the veggie burger and I've never eaten meat before and went into complete meltdown I'm f****** freaking out.and I think it's chicken and I feel so sick and I can't stop crying and [I know] this sounds ridiculous to other people but please."
The following day, Sunshine shared the response that she received from McDonald's, which said:"It's important that our customers enjoy our experience with us, and I'm sorry to hear that your order was not correct when it arrived [to] you." The incident sparked outrage on social media with fellow vegetarians, like one Twitter user who said:"Nah that's not enough and it's not on JustEat because they didn't give you meat. @McDonaldsUK what are you going to do to rectify this situation [because] you made somebody ill with YOUR mistake?"
Since Sunshine's story gained attention online and in the U.K. media, Edinburgh Live reported that a McDonald's spokesperson said:"We recognize that it is not acceptable to serve meat when a vegetarian product has been ordered, and we sincerely apologize to the customer for the mistake that was made in this instance.
