) - Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson issued a statement Monday afternoon about the Mobile Civic Center and the planned arena.
“In March, we announced plans to tear down the Mobile Civic Center and build a new, state-of-the-art entertainment arena in its place. At the time, we said there would be a checkpoint to review the project’s estimated costs after 60 percent of the new facility had been designed. This would ensure that the cost projections for a new arena match the estimates before the demolition began.
