The City Council’s pay will rise by more than $24,000 in June as a result of Prop E, and their salary will be boosted again in October.
The mayor and City Council who take office in June won’t receive just one substantial pay raise during the first year of their term — they’ll get a second one a few months later. Those pay bumps are the result of Proposition E , which 64% of voters approved in the Nov. 5 election. That city charter amendment increased the mayor’s and City Council ’s salaries, which have remained unchanged since 2015, when voters OK’d paying them a salary rather than a stipend of $20 per meeting.
The mayor will earn 100% of the median income for a four-person household in the San Antonio-New Braunfels metropolitan area while the 10 council members will receive 80%.
