Mayo Clinic in Florida CEO Dr. Kent R. Thielen offers insights into the challenges and opportunities 2023 will bring.
Here's what 2022 was like for Thielen and what he sees coming up.There have been many challenges that really all sectors of our economy have dealt with and specifically within health care. We've all been dealing with the impacts of economic downturn, inflation, supply chain challenges and the lingering impacts of Covid.
We're in expansion phase here at Mayo Clinic in Florida. We're growing, so we’re not only making sure we maintain a strong workforce but actually grow that workforce to support all the things that we're trying to do in Northeast Florida. We're looking for outstanding individuals who want to be a part of our team who are aligned with our culture and have the expertise to deliver high quality care that supports care for patients with serious and complex healthcare needs.
We’re transforming health care for patients. Broadly, we've got a bold plan looking all the way through the remainder of this decade towards 2030. It’s a very forward-looking plan and it's focused on developing and providing new cures for patients and differentiated ways of caring for patients in ways that leverage our capabilities that we're investing in related to digital health.
It's something that's going be very important, particularly as the need for health care continues to grow over the remainder of this decade. Nationally, we've got an aging population, and we've got a growing population.
