The Australian branch of Maxim Magazine has named transgender woman Danielle Laidley to its “Hot 100” list, sparking debate on social media.
The decision to include Laidley, 56, prompted debate among advocates questioning the magazine’s motivation for the decision. “#92 of top 100 hottest 'women' in the world according to Maxim magazine in Australia,” women’s sports advocate Riley Gaineson X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. “How did we get to a point where companies/institutions/publications can do this with no fear of backlash?”
Oli London, known for detransitioning after once identifying as a transgender woman, also noted the ranking by raising concerns over Laidley’s past. “The Worlds 92nd Hottest Woman, according to Maxim Magazine Australia, was arrested in 2020 for stalking a woman and bombarding her with threatening calls and texts,” London. “Dani Laidley, a biological man, sent his victim 100 threatening messages and calls including threatening violence and to ‘ram’ the victim with his car.
