Other Red Bull drivers are getting a look at other racing Hondas too, including Yuki Tsunoda's first laps in an IndyCar.
Earlier this year, the American Honda racing outfit Honda Performance Development became part of the larger Honda Racing Corporation US. The name change also represented a merger of sorts between Honda's American racing efforts and its larger global operation, one that is now bearing fruit with a demo day that will see Red Bull's Formula 1 drivers test a variety of American Honda racing products.
The team recently evaluated Super Formula race winner Kakunoshin Ohta for that seat in an IMSA-sanctioned group offseason test at Daytona.Another highlight is the pairing of Yuki Tsunoda and an IndyCar. HRC US leadership tells Road Track that the car Tsunoda will test is a chassis that 2024 series championship winner Alex Palou ran this past season. This also means that it is a hybrid equipped with supercapacitors, as all IndyCar entries have been since the midpoint of the 2024 season.
