Luka Doncic and Klay Thompson were joined in the first unit by Quentin Grimes, Maxi Kleber and Dereck Lively II — all of whom received their first starts of the season.

Dallas’ new starting lineup provided more spacing with four legitimate 3-point shooters surrounding Lively. The Mavericks converted on five of their 10 first-quarter attempts from distance thanks to Doncic and Grimes, who started at shooting guard. Kleber reprieved Naji Marshall of the starting power forward spot, which originally belonged to the injured-P.J. Washington.Lively received the starting center nod over Daniel Gafford.
