Irving remained a constant source of offense for the Mavericks throughout the night. He connected on six of his eight 3-pointers Sunday, including a crucial triple midway in the fourth quarter. Irving used his elite ballhandling in the left corner to create enough separation to get his shot off.for yet another game because of their respective injuries. Maxi Kleber, who missed the previous seven games due to a right hamstring strain, was available but did not suit up for the Mavericks.
The Mavericks wanted to avoid another slow start, which occurred several times during their five-game homestand. Dallas trailed 16-13 to start the game and shot 54.5% from the field, but couldn’t get find a groove from beyond the arc. Olivier-Maxence Prosper and Dwight Powell were the first off the bench for the Mavericks, along with Spencer Dinwiddie. Kidd played nine players in the first quarter.
Sunday was the first of two trips to the Mile High City for the Mavericks in the month of November. Dallas will return to Denver on Nov. 22 for its third Group Play game of the second-annual NBA Cup.The Mavericks ventured to the Mile High City looking to start their three-game road trip on a better note than they finished their five-game homestand . Instead, they’ll visit the Golden State Warriors riding a two-game losing streak for the first time this season.
