Wood still finished the game, but did so with tape on his thumb.Wood is averaging 18.

Wood, 27, is in the final year of a three-year, $41 million deal he signed with the Houston Rockets. He’s worked his way into the starting lineup since landing in Dallas after starting as their sixth man. It’s unclear if the Mavericks will sign Wood to the four-year, $77 million deal he’s eligible for.

With Wood out, the Mavericks are down to just big men JaVale McGee and Dwight Powell. Forward Maxi Kleber is still out with a hamstring injury. The Mavericks currently sit with a 24-22 overall record, the fifth best in the Western Conference. They’ve lost three straight, and six of their last eight.
