Rumours that England white-ball coach Matthew Mott has been sacked are "certainly not true", says England and Wales Cricket Board chief executive Richard Gould.that Australian Mott was set to leave his role after disappointing campaigns in England's 50-over and 20-over World Cup defences in the past nine months.
Asked by BBC Test Match Special if Mott had already "received his cards", Gould said: "That's not true. That's certainly not true. "You never want to be drawn into being given the dreaded vote of confidence or anything like that. Competitive sport always brings scrutiny and decisions. But England, champions in 2019, endured a calamitous 50-over World Cup in India last year, winning only three of their nine matches.
