Cole Hauser says Matthew McConaughey’s long-discussed Yellowstone-adjacent project is still alive.
Alright, alright, alright. So it seems that the fabled Matthew McConaughey Yellowstone project may not be completely dead, after all. The Yellowstone universe has expanded so vastly to this point that we wouldn't be surprised to see Yellowstone 3000 with John Dutton MMIII operating on the planet Duttonia at some point, but for now, we're still delighted with Marshals and, most relevantly, Dutton Ranch.
That's not to say there isn't room for more, as Dutton Ranch star Cole Hauser has been discussing. Speaking to ScreenRant ahead of last week's Dutton Ranch premiere, Hauser revealed that Dutton Ranch was a one-off project, a separate outing from anything planned. There had long been speculation over a McConaughey-led project, and some had theorized that it eventually spun off into The Madison, another Montana-set series that, at this point, is currently unrelated to anything to do with Yellowstone.
Hauser set the record straight: "No. Dutton was a one-off to its own. I know what you’re talking about. I’m friends with Matthew, so we had a little dialogue along the way years ago, but it had nothing to do with that.
It just was how do we take these two creative beings and give us the kind of, I guess, roadmap to continue to create these characters and do something special that’s new and challenging and that’s entertaining ultimately for the audience.
