How to find the light in our darkest hours:
There are times of loss, grief, illness, frustration or despair. I have known many of those times too. When I was 24 I went through a full-blown breakdown, swinging from six hour panic attacks to depression and back again. This led me to whole years of anxiety, and having to battle very hard not to become an agoraphobic. I very nearly took my own life, I urged myself to jump off a cliff in Ibiza.
One of the key moments for me, that switched the light on in my own mind, was a twist in my perspective. While I was ill, and all through my recovery, I read a lot. Way back in 2003, while I was still having all kinds of issues and struggles going on I read these lines from the novelist Haruki Murakami: 'And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain.
