Matt Gunderson, candidate for California State Senate District 38, on the 2022 election [Opinion]
There are two candidates on the Nov. 8 ballot running for this four-year state Senate term: Democratic Encinitas Mayor Catherine Blakespear and Republican small business owner Matt Gunderson.
The district covers the coast from Mission Viejo in Orange County to Camp Pendleton, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Del Mar and La Jolla in San Diego County.Gunderson met with The San Diego Union-Tribune Editorial Board on Oct. 17 to discuss housing, climate change, the 2022 general election and more.

NJ Senate Confirms Two State Supreme Court JusticesNew Jersey’s Supreme Court has two new members. The Democrat-led state Senate confirmed Rachel Wainer Apter and Douglas Fasciale to fill two of three vacancies on the state’s highest court.
