'McFailure' Matt Gaetz mocks McCarthy, McConnell, McDaniel after midterms
GOP Representative Matt Gaetz listens during a hearing at the Heritage Foundation on June 21. In a tweet after Tuesday's midterms, Gaetz cited House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, then wrote,"McFailure."had managed to secure 208 seats in the House of Representatives, still short of the 218 they need to flip the House.
As for the Senate, Republicans had 48 seats as of Thursday morning and Democrats won 46, with just a couple of races still up for grabs.on Monday that they expected significant Republican gains, particularly in the House. Richard Groper, a professor in the political science department at California State University, said he expected the Republicans to take the House by about 20 seats but thought the Senate would remain divided 50-50, which gives the Democrats control because of Vice PresidentRobert Stein, a professor of political science at Rice University, said that he expected the Republicans to gain at least 20 House seats and that they could be in reach of 25. Republicans have gained six House seats so far.
