Masters of the Universe is set for a thrilling reboot with a fresh cast and a unique twist on the classic story. James Purefoy and Charlotte Riley join the project as King Randor and Queen Marlena, respectively.
Masters of the Universe is gearing up for an epic revival with a star-studded cast and a fresh take on the beloved franchise. Two key roles have been filled: King Randor, Prince Adam's father, will be played by James Purefoy , known for his roles in HBO's Rome, Hulu's The Veil, Altered Carbon, and Pennyworth.
Queen Marlena, Prince Adam's mother, will be portrayed by Charlotte Riley, whose credits include Edge of Tomorrow, London Has Fallen, In the Heart of the Sea, and the hit series Peaky Blinders. The new series promises a departure from the classic animated version, which is being described as 'camp' in its own right. The showrunners are drawing inspiration from various iterations of the Masters of the Universe, including the Revelation version and the comics, creating a unique and modern interpretation. As for the relationship between King Randor and Queen Marlena with their son Prince Adam, it remains unclear how this dynamic will be portrayed. In previous iterations, they were often unaware of his superhero identity, at least initially. This casting announcement adds to a roster of talented actors already attached to the project, including Dylan O'Brien as He-Man, Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms, Camila Mendes as Teela, Jared Leto as Skeletor, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man, Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops, Morena Baccarin as The Sorceress, and Haukur Johannesson as Fisto.
