Two Columbus-based contestants are representing the Midwest on MasterChef, the cooking competition show judged by Gordon Ramsay.

Wayne Lewis and Charles Calvino, both hailing from Columbus, are contestants on the 13th season of Fox's home cook competition,"The 13th season has a new team, with contestants representing the West, Northeast, Midwest and South regions. Columbus is lucky enough to have two Columbus residents representing the city's culinary prowess.In a recent email interview, both shared insights into their backgrounds, experiences on the show and their thoughts on renowned chef Gordon Ramsay.

What makes"MasterChef" so challenging is that you really don't know what you'll have to cook next. You have to be a well-rounded cook to thrive in the 60-minute pressure cooker of a kitchen. From handling fresh meats and produce to surprise ingredients you may have never used before and, of course, baking - you have to be able to execute with very little margin for error.
