Massive wildfire in Ocean County is fully contained, officials say

No one was hurt and no homes were damaged in a massive fire that scorched 3,859 acres of wooded area in Manchester.

The 3,859-acre fire was 100% contained as of 10 a.m., the state Forest Fire Service said.

Firefighters will stay in Manchester to try to improve containment lines and smoke conditions are expected for several more hours, authorities said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No one was injured and no homes or buildings were damaged in the massive fire, which broke out Tuesday afternoon in the area of Route 70, Route 539 and Horicon Avenue.
