A probe has been launched into the violence.
The rammy broke out at Greenfaulds High School in Cumbernauld on Saturday, November 26. Images from the incident show youths from opposing teams at Edinburgh Portobello and Bellshill clashing with one another on the pitch as stunned fans watched on in horror.
During the chaos, one player can be seen being kicked off the ground as his teammates try to rush to his aid. Adults were eventually able to calm the situation and pull apart the players before any more violence erupted. A spokesperson for Portobello AFC told Edinburgh Live : “As far as Portobello are concerned it’s now a matter for the relevant authorities to deal with and we will support them in any way we can. We do not condone the actions of certain players and will deal with this accordingly. As for our opposition it’s not for us to comment as it’s not appropriate at this time.”
