An N95 face mask is shown in this file photo from Feb. 18, 2020. Cuyahoga County announced Friday that anyone entering a government building will be required to wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status, beginning Monday.

The standing executive order kicks in anytime the county turns red on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s COVID-19 map tracking community spread. Red designates a “high” level of transmission in the area. Cuyahoga County has an average of 228 cases per day, reported as of July 27th, which is above the 200-case threshold for a “high” community level of COVID-19, the county said in a news release. In high-transmission areas, the CDC recommends wearing a mask indoors.Cuyahoga has been navigating the mask-off, mask-on cycle all year, as transmission rates continuously change in the area.
