The memorial service, held at the Government Communication Information System offices in Pretoria, was attended by his family, journalists and fellow communicators who all celebrated his contribution over the years
“He called a spade a spade and never tried to pull a fast-one over both the media and the public at large, in all of his communication.”
Maile said Masebe was an activist par excellence, even after being deployed into government by the ANC, he would still attend to community issues and get first hand accounts before responding to any queries. Maile said Masebe’s currency was honesty, openness and transparency, which gave him much credibility with the media as well as the public at large.
“One can only marvel at his ability to have remained contemporary and current as a communicator through various decades, even as trends and norms changed within the communications environment.
