Maryland suffered its first loss of the season against Ohio State but is moving forward to its date with Illinois this weekend.

Even after a loss Saturday to Ohio State, Coach Michael Locksley, shown last month, has Maryland off to its best start since 2013 at the midway point of the regular season. Maryland football coach Michael Locksley met with his coaching staff in College Park on Sunday afternoon, some 24 hours, at then-No. 4 Ohio State. He asked each assistant which single decision he would have modified if he were presented a redo.

Every answer was different, Locksley revealed, although no less tinged with regret, underscoring the deep disappointment felt throughout the locker room after a game in which the upset-minded Terrapins led by a touchdown early in the third quarter before unraveling down the stretch for their first loss.

Maryland’s offense continues to produce at a prolific clip, with its 210 points the second most through six games in program history. The Terrapins rank in the top three among Big Ten teams in total offense , scoring offense , passing offense and third down conversion percentage .Defensively, the Terrapins are among the top three in the Big Ten in interceptions , turnovers gained and sacks per game .

“There’s a lot of things to learn from every game,” Tagovailoa said. “When you make a mistake like throwing an interception, the only thing you can think of is the next play. I think that’s the mind-set and the mentality that we have, and I think if you continue to harp on the interception, things aren’t going to go good for you.
