Marvel Comics is set to debut a new supernatural team, the Arcane Avengers , within the returning Marvel Mangaverse continuity. Unlike the mainstream Avengers, who have historically avoided mystical threats, this iteration is solely composed of mystic heroes. The five-issue Mangaverse event will be bookended by stories featuring Miles Morales and Magik, with the central third issue, "Arcane Avengers," focusing on a transformed Winter Soldier leading a reluctant team. Written by Ashley Allen and illustrated by Mirka Andolfo, the issue finds Bucky Barnes, the Winter Soldier, cursed to defeat and imprison demonic yokai alongside teammates like Bloodline and Wiccan.
He seeks a chance at freedom from his captor's control, but his plans are disrupted by the sudden reappearance of his childhood friend, Hawkeye. This new wave of supernatural storytelling is part of a larger trend at Marvel, as the publisher prepares to launch a new "Midnight" imprint in August 2026.
This imprint will explore a canonical world where eldritch and supernatural forces have claimed the Earth, with series like "Midnight X-Men," "Midnight Fantastic Four," and "Midnight Spider-Man" showing classic heroes transformed by this dark reality.
