For one thing, Spider-Man is one of Marvel's most youthful characters. While he is not the youngest, he is decidedly fresh-faced compared to the majority of the Avengers and fits well into a more family-friendly universe - something which the wealth of kid-friendly animated Spider-Man series attests to. Furthermore, Sony has proven with its acclaimed Spider-Verse franchise how well this Marvel character, in particular, works in an animated setting.
Still, an entirely 2D animated movie has yet to be explored by Marvel or Sony. Spider-Man: No Way Home is one of many movies that have proven a fervor for superhero nostalgia, and merging it with the nostalgia inherent in the classic Disney animation art style would be an interesting and even profitable route for Marvel to pursue. While this remains a distinctly unlikely project for now, however, Spider-Man fans can still make the case in the meantime with exhibitions like the post above.
