Marvel pits two X-Men powerhouses against each other, and one of them wipes the floor with her fellow mutant hero. One of the reasons why many Marvel humans hate mutants is their random X-Gene lottery.
While some mutants are tormented by uncomfortable physical alterations, hundreds of people around the world develop abilities powerful enough to level entire cities. Even if they don't create villain groups like the Brotherhood, many mutants represent a constant danger just by possessing the power to harm everyone around them. Certain mutants belong to both groups.
Chamber had his lower face and chest completely blown away when his mutant energy first ignited, leaving him with an open pit of psionic fire that forces him to communicate solely through telepathy. Similarly, Wither is a walking biohazard whose cellular decay instantly disintegrates any organic matter, which forces him to isolate. If it weren't for his leadership skills, Cyclops would also be a scary urban legend.
After all, his eyes are dangerous weapons that need to be permanently concealed or controlled. The most famous Marvel hero whose mutation is both a blessing and a curse is definitely Rogue, who's as strong as the strongest Avengers, can absorb any character's powers, and can defeat most opponents with a single touch, yet this same power denies her the simple comfort of human contact.
Rogue Effortlessly Kills Cannonball With Her Bare Hands The Uncanny X-Men #29; Written By Gail Simone; Art By Luciano Vecchio & Matthew Wilson The Uncanny X-Men have been facing multiple supernatural threats simultaneously, from nightmarish bio-tech Sentinels to the Avian telepath Perimeter to a group of literally soulless X-Men impostors that includes a costume-swapped duo of Colossus and Magik. The Outliers took the risk of using deadly force against a fake Nightcrawler, and it paid off.
Now, in The Uncanny X-Men #29, Gambit gives Rogue the green light to do the same against Cannonball, who has been throwing her around. Though hesitant, Rogue effortlessly kills Cannonball by twisting his neck. These fake X-Men can mimic the original heroes' voices, speech patterns, movements, combat techniques, and even their mutant abilities.
It's safe to say that the Cannonball impostor possesses roughly the same power as his real counterpart, who could give Rogue a decent battle, but would never be able to beat her. Rogue struggles to stop Cannonball, but only because she tries to find a way to contain him without truly harming him. Once the restraints are off, Rogue proves he's a mere inconvenience and crushes him.
Rogue Has Been Holding Back For Too Long Rogue Is The X-Men's Physically Strongest Hero For A Reason Rogue is capable of matching or even surpassing cosmic heavyweights like Thor, Hercules, and the person she stole her super-strength and flight from, Captain Marvel, not to mention the majority of the mutant population on Earth. Through her base ability to absorb the life force, memories, and specific superpowers of anyone she touches, Rogue's physical ceiling is practically nonexistent, and she's able to stack different abilities on top of each other until she becomes unstoppable.
Yet, despite her potential, Rogue has spent years fighting far below her limit to avoid completely losing control of the stolen psyches swirling within her mind.
