Marvel's Fantastic Four just became the Fantastic Eight in New Fantastic Four 5. The original and new teams unite to take down a demonic threat, leading to some hilarious interactions between the bright and shiny & grim and gritty rosters.
At one point, a new Fantastic Four team formed to take over for the old one, but when the originals returned, they teamed up to take down a big threat.
Years ago, Marvel compiled a new Fantastic Four team from their most popular characters at the time. This included Wolverine, Ghost Rider, Spider-Man, and the Hulk in his Joe Fixit form. A new series chronicling one of their adventures takes the team to Las Vegas, where a demon has taken possession over many citizens. When the team confronts him, the demon transports Spider-Man, the Hulk, and Wolverine back to the Baxter Building in New York while leaving Ghost Rider behind.
Wolverine, Hulk, Ghost Rider, And Spider-Man Team Up With The Originals The Fantastic Four is a pretty unique team in the Marvel Universe. Unlike the Avengers, Thunderbolts, or even the X-Men, the Fantastic Four is a family first and foremost. So, it is very rare for them to swap out members outside of their family to form a new team. This team of Wolverine, Spider-Man, Hulk, and Ghost Rider is an exception that they've brought back for a new series.
Also, it's interesting to note just how out of the story the original Fantastic Four were. The replacement team started as the focus at the very beginning. Human Torch only got involved because Ghost Rider was left behind by the demon. The original team was back at the Baxter Building completely going about their lives. Sue and Reed were even being intimate when Doctor Strange suddenly popped in to tell them what was happening.
