Oscar Isaac as Moon Knight holding a moon-shaped blade with the full moon behind him.

As the MCU has grown into the gargantuan project that it is, many characters have been introduced only to never be mentioned again. What began as a relatively small franchise featuring a team-up between members of The Avengers has ballooned into a massive universe that has introduced some of the most obscure comic book characters and some that have been created specifically for the MCU.

From characters who have been introduced briefly in post-credit scenes to those who have been set up to play a leading role in the franchise, Marvel has many characters that need to be brought back sooner rather than later. Rather than continuing to introduce more characters who are never mentioned again, Marvel needs to expand on the stories of those who have already been introduced to audiences. If Marvel wants to keep the franchise fresh and interesting, they must develop compelling characters and stories. 10 Hercules Introduced in 'Thor: Love and Thunder' At the end of Thor: Love and Thunder, Hercules is sent to kill Thor by his father Zeus . He is shown in the movie's post-credit scene, and has never been heard from since. This is a shame, because Marvel has proven that it is able to incorporate beings from ancient mythology into its superhero canon. Zeus was fun enough to follow through Thor: Love and Thunder, and Hercules could have expanded the role of the Greek gods in this universe. This also could be an incredible opportunity for Goldstein, a Ted Lasso alumnus, to flex his acting muscles and show fans exactly what he is capable of. His version of Hercules could be an unhinged supernatural being driven by pure vengeance. As a figure from Greek mythology, Hercules has a lot of complexity that could be explored within the MCU. It's time Goldstein was given a chance to put his own spin on this legendary character. In the present, she is a museum curator and is close to her fellow Eternals, especially Sprite . Through Eternals, it is clear that Sersi has played a vital role in keeping humanity safe from various threats for thousands of years and has been a leader on this team of supernatural beings. Like the rest of the Eternals, Sersi was set up to play a larger role in the MCU. In particular, she and the rest of the Eternals are put in the position of guiding the Earth-based heroes in facing otherworldly enemies. Sersi is much-needed in the MCU as she could be a grounding influence in this franchise that sometimes needs to be brought down to Earth. Sersi's compassion and protective nature are needed now more than ever. Although he is instrumental in mentoring Doctor Strange , he expresses resentment at being passed over by the Ancient One. This feeling of being unappreciated leads him to go his own way and become someone devoted to reducing the number of sorcerers in the universe. Marvel needs to bring back Karl Mordo because it has always struggled to keep compelling villains and anti-heroes around. This character's complexity could make him an essential anti-hero in the franchise. Since Mordo has already been introduced and appeared in other projects, like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and is known to the Marvel fandom, it would make sense to set this character up as a main antagonist for a new class of superheroes to fight. President Loki is in charge of a group of Loki variants who live in the Void at the end of time. Loki meets the presidential version of himself while looking for answers and trying to escape from the Void. Shortly after being introduced, President Loki gets his hand eaten by Alligator Loki and is last seen fighting off other Loki variants who betrayed him. President Loki sets himself apart among the Loki variants. He represents everything that makes this character so compelling. He is willing to overthrow a Loki who is already king and fight to the death to maintain his power, making him an easy anti-hero to root for. Relatedly, President Loki could embody some interesting and topical political commentary, since this character embodies Loki's signature charm and obsession with power while only looking to further his own desires. During the credits of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Doctor Strange meets Clea, a mysterious sorceress who tells him that his actions have caused massive consequences that must be dealt with immediately. Strange goes with her, and she has not appeared in the series since, despite the fact that the heroes of the MCU continue to battle otherworldly threats. Theron would make a natural addition to the MCU, and could inject the franchise with much-needed charisma and gravitas. As a character, Clea has essentially limitless possibilities. In the few moments she shares the screen with Doctor Strange, it's clear that she can match his intellect and ability. She could be a necessary counterweight to Doctor Strange's growing influence and could be another character with cosmic abilities who can influence the MCU's current class of heroes. When a terrifying monster rampages through New York seeking to capture a young girl from another multiverse named America Chavez, Strange finds himself as her newfound protector. Unfortunately, his new foe is a former ally, Wanda Maximoff. To protect Chavez and stop Wanda's rampage, Strange travels the Multiverse looking for answers - and encounters engrossing and terrifying realities that expand the Marvel Universe in a whole new way. This miniseries introduces Marc Spector, a man with Dissociative Identity Disorder . He can communicate with Egyptian gods, and has multiple alters with distinct personalities and sometimes conflicting goals. After headlining his own miniseries, he has not been heard from again, even though there is precedent for incorporating ancient mythology into this franchise. Moon Knight is a fascinating figure who demands further exploration. Although his story revolves around him solving mysteries about ancient Egyptian gods, he is also a man who has experienced tremendous loss. This humanity could add emotional depth to the franchise. In a franchise that often undercuts characters' emotional vulnerability with humor, Moon Knight is necessary to this story now more than ever. She is estranged from her brother and is excluded from the Ten Rings by her father, Xu Wenwu . However, she proves herself as a leader by running a fight club. After reuniting with her brother, she works with him to go against their father, who is convinced that the village where his deceased wife was born is holding her hostage. While it's been frustrating to wait for any new Shang-Li story, it would make sense for the MCU to prioritize bringing back Xu Xialing. She is a complex character who could set herself apart in a group of superheroes trying to prove themselves. Since Xu Xialing takes over the Ten Rings organization, she could play an important role in the MCU moving forward. She could either be a formidable adversary for the heroes to fight, or she could lend her skills and experience to them as they face even bigger threats. She is an influential member of the team and is among the most perceptive. Her skills make her essential to this group of ancient heroes as she is their knowledge keeper and historian. She also frequently provides moral support to the Eternals as they protect humanity. Her relationship with Druig is also one of the most endearing parts of the story.Makkari is one of the most notable Eternals and needs to come back to the MCU immediately. As someone with such a vast historical perspective on the threats humanity has faced, she could be an essential resource for any MCU superheroes looking to continue protecting ordinary people. She could also serve as a moral anchor to the MCU's heroes. Plus, Makkari is the best version of a speedster within the Marvel universe. 2 America Chavez Introduced in 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' Close America Chavez is introduced in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as a teenager who can travel between dimensions by punching through doorways that separate them. She is pursued by Wanda Maximoff , who sees her and her abilities as a threat. Her ultimate goal is to reunite with her family, as she was separated from her mothers. In her brief time in the MCU, she learns to accept her abilities rather than hide from them. America Chavez's abilities alone would make her a necessary member of any superhero team she chose to join. She has only been shown in relation to Doctor Strange and Wanda Maximoff, which means there are so many opportunities to further explore what makes her character special as an individual. America Chavez could also be essential in continuing the MCU and its stories for a new generation of fans. 1 Blade Introduced in 'Deadpool & Wolverine' While Blade has already headlined his own trilogy, this character was officially introduced to the MCU in Deadpool & Wolverine. He appears with other Marvel characters, including Elektra and Gambit , who have been exiled by the TVA, and exist in a kind of limbo. Blade is part of a resistance group that fights against Cassandra and joins an alliance with Deadpool and Wolverine . Fans have been asking for more Blade stories for years since the original trilogy concluded. Blade's appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine proves that he fits into the MCU perfectly. In addition to this character's deadpan humor, which fits in perfectly with the other characters he has interacted with so far. Bringing Blade back in a more prominent role could also expand the MCU's fanbase by bringing in fans of Marvel characters who had stood alone before being brought into the franchise.
