Designer Martine Rose announced the cancellation of production orders for the season, expressing disappointment but emphasizing the necessity for her brand's long-term success. The fall collection, inspired by diverse influences and characterized by a mix of 90s clubwear and old-world opulence, was well-received, but drastic measures were deemed necessary. Rose, who founded her label in 2007, continues to receive support from stockists, customers, and friends.

Rose said in a statement shared first with WWD that she was “forced to make the unprecedented decision to cancel the season’s production orders. This is incredibly frustrating for myself and my team, especially following the successful sales season we’ve just had.

However, these drastic measures are necessary to ensure my brand’s long-term success.”“I am naturally saddened and disappointed to have had to take this decision. I continue to receive enormous global support from our stockists, customers and friends, for which I am very grateful. I’m looking forward to the brighter days ahead for my business beyond this transitional moment,” the statement said. As reported the fall collection was a fun one, full of hot pink fur, dark denim and flocked trousers, corset stitching on jackets and bits of slinky lingerie fused with dress shirts. “It’s decadent through our lens, a mix of ’90s clubwear and old-world opulence,” Rose said during a walk-through earlier this year. “It’s about dressing up and showing off.” Rose looked to a diverse bunch of sartorial show-offs for inspiration, including King Henry VIII, James Brown and the British boxer known as Prince Naseem.Rose said her mission for fall was to “go back to the clothes,” focus on the silhouette, conjure drama, romance and humor. Rose founded her label in 2007 and sold a majority stake to Tomorrow Ltd. in 2021. Over the years, she has worked on a variety of capsules and special projects for brands including Nike, Napapijri, Tommy Hilfiger and Clarks. She was the guestand is widely regarded as having been a major influence on the brand’s oversize, distressed and vintage-flecked men’s silhouettes. That laid-back urban cool has won her numerous fans, including Drake, Naomi Campbell and DJ Goldie. The Martine Rose collection sells through around 200 stockists, including Dover Street Market globally, H Lorenzo, Nordstrom, The Webster, SKP in China and Browns online.WWD.
