Liverpool want to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad but a transfer isn't a foregone conclusion just yet
Liverpool could have their work cut out if they wish to sign Martin Zubimendi this summer. The Reds want to make the Spaniard the first signing of the Arne Slot era, with him boasting a £51.65m release clause in his contract. But despite that signal of intent from Liverpool , the Spaniard isn’t leaning on inanimate objects galore at the AXA Training Centre, holding aloft a scarf while donning a Reds shirt just yet.
That is potentially easier said than done, given a number of suitors from the Premier League and elsewhere have not managed to succeed so far - with the likes of Arsenal and Barcelona previously interested in the midfielder. Meanwhile, prior to the Reds’ interest being publicised, HITC reported that Zubimendi has actually made it clear to English suitors, including Liverpool and Manchester United, that he does not want to leave Real Sociedad this summer.
