Martin Parkinson and Helen Rowell will join the Australian Retirement Trust as directors as it ramps up the independence of its board.
Already a subscriber?Superannuation giant the Australian Retirement Trust has boosted its governance credentials by appointing former top bureaucrat Martin Parkinson and ex-prudential watchdog chief Helen Rowell to its board.
But Mr Fraser said that Mr Parkinson’s international and climate change experience and Ms Rowell’s regulatory expertise were of international standard and came as the industry moved into its next stage of development. from 2016 to 2019, as secretary of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet during the periods Malcolm Turnbull and Scott Morrison were in power. Ms Rowell spent more than 21 years at the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority, including a decade as deputy chairwoman across super and insurance, before stepping down last year.
His experience in Treasury, at the International Monetary Fund, RBA and department of climate change would enable him to bring to ART “an international perspective that compliments the domestic”.for how we govern and how we manage risk, we’ve just added some quality bench strength around the ART board table.”regulatory experience ramped up ART’s expertise in that area at a time when funds’ operational resilience and investment governance was under growing scrutiny.
