Former Celtic manager Martin O'Neill has described Larne's European success as 'big news' for Northern Ireland football
Martin O'Neill has hailed the achievements of Larne football club this summer, and those of owner Kenny Bruce. The Inver Park club became the first Irish League club to ever reach the group stages of a European competition.
It has been an historic period for Larne, who won their first-ever Premiership title in 2023 and defended the Gibson Cup last season.Read more: O'Neill on late piece of homework that helped earn Nations League win "It is, absolutely. I'm absolutely delighted with it as well," he told The Football Authorities podcast.
"And Shamrock Rovers from the Republic have done exceptionally well as well. So it's really good news that these teams can compete in this competition proper."
