Appearing on Good Morning Britain, he said power 'standing charges' were rising and blasted it as a 'complete mistake'
Money expert Martin Lewis has issued advice to all homeowners saying they need to do something immediately. Mr Lewis was appearing on Good Morning Britain and was speaking about the price cap changing on October 1.
Mr Lewis told GMB: “I call this meter reading week and that means if you are on, if you pay by monthly direct debit and you don’t have a working smart metre, you should be doing a metre reading sometime during the next week. Mr Lewis said that doing it on Saturday or Sunday was fine and added there was specific advice for people on pre-payment meters: “If you do it a few days afterwards, you can always back date the reading you’ve given and the final important tip out there is for anyone going to do this slowly on a non smart electricity prepayment meter
Energy regulator Ofgem has said the new cap on a unit of gas and electricity would reduce the average bill to £1,923 from October 1, from £2,074 per year. The average customer with a prepayment meter will see their bills fall to £1,949 per year.
