Martin Lewis recommends a 20p test to make sure your car doesn't fail its MOT
For many motorists, it might be almost time for an MOT renewal. August is a popular time to buy a new car, in order to save some cash before the new registration plates are released the following month.
According to Martin, more than one in 20 drivers end up failing their MOT because of their tyres. Problems with depth and pressure can result in a failure, Yorkshire Live reports. The RAC outlines exactly how your tyres need to measure up for an MOT: "The legal tyre tread depth for cars in the UK and Europe is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre, according to law. The tread must meet this minimum requirement across its complete circumference."
