The consumer champion used his acceptance speech to highlight his future fears for the cost of living crisis
Consumer champion Martin Lewis won the award for Best TV Expert at the National Television Awards on Thursday night and used the opportunity to urge "somebody" in the UK Government to "get a grip on the economy" as he gave his acceptance speech.
After expressing his shock at the win, he said how the cost of living crisis has been "disastrous" and has left many people with mental health problems. He also warned that the next year is going to be even more difficult with the knock-on effect to mortgages and rents. Another commented: "Congratulations. The NTA award couldn't have gone to a better person, who truly stands with the majority of this country and isn't afraid to speak out on behalf of others."
A sentiment shared by many as one posted: "Martin Lewis for PRIME MINISTER... I can't think of anyone else I would trust more in Parliament for representing the interests of the people."
