has opened up about what sets Marshals apart from its predecessor. The actor addressed longtime fans and explained why the latest one in Kayce Dutton’s journey won’t feel like a carbon copy of Yellowstone.

Ahead of the series premiere on March 1, Luke Grimes breaks down the shift from the sprawling pastures of the Yellowstone Ranch to the fugitive-recovery world of a U.S. Marshal. He explained that it primarily comes with a major change in pace. Speaking at the premiere event, he described to, “It’s a very different show, it’s a lot quicker pace, there’s a lot of action in the show.” While Yellowstone was known for its slow-burning tension, political maneuvering, and family drama, Marshals appears to be leaning hard into the procedural thriller genre. For the actor, the hope is that the audience that followed him for years will stick around for the ride. “I hope you like it, that’s what I would say,” Grimes added, addressing the OG Yellowstone fans directly. “I hope the original fans will still like it.” The series picks up with Kayce leaving the ranch behind to join an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and a Navy SEAL. Additionally, the reservation storylines are set to be more prominent than ever. “We get into some subject matter that is very realistic and present-day challenges for the res,” Birmingham told. “We’re going to address real-life things — mining companies trying to come along, drug cartels.
