Please reload the page and try again.A few years ago, I wrote a book titled “Chainsaws & Casseroles.” The title came from a short story about a disgruntled meteorologist who came home to find his hometown destroyed by a tornado.
I’ve always said that when there is a storm, before you can get out of the rubble, there will be a church van full of people with chainsaws and casseroles. They’ll cut the tree off your house and then they will feed you. That’s how we roll in Mississippi. It may because we know that eventually it will be our turn to need help. Or we’ve been already been on the receiving end of that help. We’ve seen that all across Mississippi the last few days. It’s when we’re at our best.
