"We do already co-operate very significantly on defence matters. We'll always be looking to deepen that cooperation between our countries," Mr Shapps said.One area in which both Australia and the UK are already committed to deepening ties is through the development of nuclear submarines under the AUKUS pact, a deal the ministers were both keen to defend from scrutiny over potential roadblocks.
