After being fired by Texas Tech, women's basketball coach Marlene Stollings sued the school. Here are the details of the lawsuit settlement.

The settlement shows Stollings received $300,000 for alleged compensatory damages, including emotional pain, suffering, inconvenience, mental anguish and loss of enjoyment of life. She received $300,000 for attorneys' fees and expenses incurred by Stollings, plus an additional $140,666.00 for back wages, according to the agreement.

“Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, TTU only leaked a part of the agreement,’’ attorney Peter Ginsberg, who represented Stollings, told USA TODAY Sports by text message. “But we, unlike TTU, take our obligations and promises seriously and we will not be saying more. TTU is what it is. Marlene has lots to be proud of - and too much integrity to play TTU’s game.’’The school previously said it could not comment on the settlement and it did not respond to requests about Ginsberg's allegation.

At the time of her dismissal, Stollings was under contract through March 2024. She was due to be paid $720,000 in basic annual compensation from the school for the 2019-20 season and was due $740,000 for 2020-21, according to copies of the agreement obtained by USA TODAY Sports and the Intercollegiate. Termination without cause would entitle Stollings to 75% of her remaining basic annual compensation, a total surpassing $2 million.
