Share to linkedinFor the first time since the U.S.-China trade war started in July 2018, both sides have made gestures of goodwill ahead of October negotiations, helping calm investor fears and boost the market to near-record highs this week.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was on a tear this week, rising by 1.3% since Monday. It is now just 0.5% off from its record closing high of 27,359.The S&P 500 rose by 0.6% this week, just 0.6% off from its closing high of 3,025. Treasury bond prices fell again this week, with the benchmark 10-year now yielding 1.9%—the most in a week since 2016.
