It would have been the first time Allen and former flame Reanne Evans, who share a daughter, had met on the professional circuit since their frosty encounter at the 2021 British Open.

Mark Allen has pulled out of this weekend’s World Mixed Doubles due to personal reasons. The world No.3 was due to partner Rebecca Kenna in the eight-person event in Manchester.

But the former UK and Masters champion will be replaced by four-time world champion Mark Selby for the two-day invitational event. The 12-time women’s world champion snubbed Allen’s attempt at a pre-match fist bump. And later that season, there was a public frenzy when the Northern Irish potter asked for Evans to be removed from the practice area, where she was doing punditry work for the BBC, ahead of his match.

“For the sake of 10 minutes, Reanne left the players’ practice room so Mark Allen could practice before his match without distraction upon his request,” a spokesperson for the BBC said at the time. The pair, who split after three years of dating in 2008, were going through a maintenance dispute at the time.
