Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene lambasted fellow Republican Rep. Chip Roy after he voted Wednesday to reject an effort she introduced to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib over the Democrat's stance and actions regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene, R-Ga., arrives as Republicans meet to decide who to nominate to be the new House speaker, on Capitol Hill in Washington, late Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023. **FILE**Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene lambasted fellow Republican Rep. Chip Roy after he voted Wednesday to reject an effort she introduced to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib over the Democrat’s stance and actions regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Mr. Roy of Texas was one of the 23 Republicans who voted Wednesday to reject the resolution to censure Ms. Tlaib of Michigan — the only Palestinian American member of Congress. In a statement posted on X after the vote, he called the resolution “feckless,” “deeply flawed” and that it had “factually unverified claims.”

But, the Texas lawmaker took issue with accusing the Democrat of starting an “insurrection” at the Capitol, which Ms. Greene, Georgia Republican, used to describe the rally that took place on Oct. 18 where hundreds of demonstrators showed up to call for a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas.“I voted to table the resolution,” he said. “In January 2021, the legal term insurrection was stretched and abused by many following the events at the Capitol.

In response, Ms. Tlaib had called the resolution “deeply Islamophobic” and said it harms “peaceful Jewish anti-war advocates.”
