INDIANAPOLIS — COVID-19 caused a backlog in jury trials across the country, and it was no exception for the Hoosier state. The Marion County Prosecutor's Office says it is finally starting to catch up.

"We've made significant progress from the backlog. I mean, we basically had 18 months to two years where we just were not in a position to try jury trials, which is how you're going to resolve a lot of these cases," said Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears."We have nowhere near the backlog that we had two-years-ago. You never want to say you're caught up because as soon as you say that, a bunch more cases come in.
