The recent arrest of a Marion County Children Services caseworker is prompting parent outrage and claims that she left their children unsafe. Bucyrus Police arrested Erika Funfgeld, 27, after a stop Jan.

30 in Crawford County just after two p.m. According to officers, they observed "criminal indicators" and called out their drug-sniffing k-9. Police say they uncovered suspected fentanyl and hydrocodone in Funfgeld's car and she had admitted to "smoking" fentanyl. Funfgeld was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle under the influence, possession of drugs, and possession of cocaine. Both possession charges are felonies of the fifth degree. As a precaution, officers with Bucyrus P.D. who were part of the stop were taken to Bucyrus Community Hospital for evaluation. Marion County Children's Services confirmed to ABC6 Investigates that Funfgeld was a caseworker and had been placed on administrative leave on Feb. 1, two days after her arrest. She was then terminated Feb. 3 due to her "unacceptable actions." The agency is consulting legal counsel before addressing further inquiries from ABC6 Investigates about Funfgeld's duties, caseload and status of her cases.Funfgeld has been released on a $75,000 bond and has yet to be indicted. Parents in Marion County have contacted ABC6 Investigates expressing concerns about the safety of their children who had Funfgeld as a case worker.
