The defense rested their case Wednesday morning in former Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby’s federal perjury trial.

The former Baltimore city state's attorney is on trial for perjury. Before closing arguments began, there was a lengthy debate about whether Mosby was going to take the stand herself.
Mosby deducted more than $7,000 on her taxes that were actually Baltimore SAO expenses, and according to Zelinsky, the government believed those deductions were improper. Zelinsky also said the government wanted to question Mosby about $18,000 charitable deductions Mosby claimed on her 2019 taxes. Prosecutors also indicated they wanted to ask Mosby about a letter she submitted indicating she had been living in Florida for 70 days.
