After two years away, Maren Morris is back on tour: 'I kind of wondered if I would ever come back,' she tells V.F. “It’s just been so overwhelmingly positive.'
getting back on the road after two years away from touring was a relief. On Friday night, she headlined Radio City Music Hall, and near the end of the night, she expressed just how much she missed her fans when she was away.
“I listened to the mixes of the record millions of times in my car but couldn’t really share them or tease them to a crowd or even play it live at a show to see if the songs worked,” she said. “That first show of the tour—it was me getting to see the crowd’s reaction to the songs for the first time.”
She was also looking forward to visiting a few of her favorite spots in Manhattan. “New York City is such a melting pot, so I just always feel at home,” she said. “I feel like if I had a second place, it would be in New York City.” West Village stalwart Morandi and Altro Paradiso for the breakfast martinis were two of the places she was most looking forward to. “I feel like I’m a city girl, honestly. I feel like I thrive the most when I’m surrounded by buildings, shopping, and restaurants.
